Conclusion
By comparing current day medicine to World War One it's amazing how far the world has evolved. Today almost all of our soldiers return home alive while in the first world war many men died of infection and disease. Most people have heard that by learning history we can avoid the mistakes of the past, it is obvious by looking back that this remains true. First in the process of discovery is the brainstorming of ideas. If one idea doesn't work or is ineffective then a new plan or new additions will take its place. Once a plan is discovered that works most of the time then efficiency is worked upon. Eventually there comes a point with each creation that there isn't anywhere else to go with present technology. At that point efficiency becomes more important. It doesn't matter how excellent the equipment is if no one has it. This is the process of evolving technology. Instead of using one idea, people built off of one another's ideas, criticizing those they don't think will work and perfecting those they believed will. This process worked in the past and will continue in the future even if we can't see it at work.
Soldier moral directly corresponds with military technology. If a soldier is more confident in the belief that their pain can be numbed or taken away completely then they will be more willing to fight. If there is a cure or a way to overcome an injury then a soldier will be less afraid of death. Imagine being a soldier in the World Wars and knowing that a single wound could kill you, soldiers today rarely face that risk, making them more confident in the face of great danger. With even greater technology chances of injury are decreasing.

Here's a news flash: No soldier gives his life. That's not the way it works. Most soldiers who make a conscious decision to place themselves in harm's way do it to protect their buddies. They do it because of the bonds of friendship - and it goes so much deeper than friendship. ~ Eric Massa
Where will this take us? It's hard to tell. Some may think that increased confidence will give Americans even bigger heads and it will make soldiers feel all powerful. I disagree. I believe that the discipline of the military will keep soldiers from misusing their power. Also, there is always the though of death even when many people adamantly deny that it could occur because accidents happen and nothing is perfect.
It is easy to see that technology has evolved, what is harder to see is the affects it has had on troops. There may not be any factual evidence to truly support my findings, but it's the human brain that we are looking into. Thinking through soldier's drives to fight and what happens in war it is fair to make the analysis that through mistakes humans learn and through learning soldier moral becomes stronger.
